Associate Project Manager

High-visibility project delivery role in infrastructure design and building construction for a confident people, resources and client expectation manager. 

You are renowned for your accomplishments as an associate project manager in the design and construction industry, as well as your ability to collaborate with senior management and build credibility with clients, especially when dealing with multiple project delivery objectives, and bring a range of skills, experience and emotional intelligence that inspire excellence and lead to quality outcomes. Reporting to a Project Manager of a major, multi-year project, you will be responsible for assisting in the planning, developing, delivering and reporting on assigned project scope based on schedule and budget.  The position works within a larger project management team and is responsible for specific scope while integrating with all other disciplines of project management.  The scope of work this position will focus on is demolition, interior fit up, landscape, and Civil. Experience in these areas is an asset. The position will also require the development of client communication notices in both French and English.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Monitor project expenditures to ensure alignment with approved budgets 
• Prepare and present regular project update reports for internal stakeholders and executive leadership 
• Provide insight and commentary on financial performance, identifying key cost drivers and financial risks 
• Support change order reviews and ensure appropriate financial governance is applied. 
• Provide input to financial risk registers, including contingency tracking and drawdown. 
• Ensure adherence to internal controls, financial policies and capital governance frameworks 
• Support audits and reviews by providing documentation and rationale for financial decisions 
• Maintain compliance with funding requirements, regulatory standards and stakeholder reporting obligations. 
• Ensure data integrity and main accurate records 
• Identify project risks, and develop and implement mitigation and contingency plans. 
• Establish and maintains effective client relationships. 
• Solve issues and provide support, manage customer expectations and ensure customer satisfaction. 
• Collaborate with project stakeholders to develop bilingual project communication notices to inform clients and tenants of changes to the campus.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

• University degree or college diploma, preferably in project management, architectural technology, construction technology, engineering or engineering technology, or equivalent work experience.
• 1 to 3 years of project management work experience; or 5 to 7 years of project coordination work experience.
• Bilingual in French and English.
• Project management – proven ability and experience in delivering projects on-time, on-budget, within specifications and in-compliant with all requirements including but not limited to regulatory, environmental, health, and safety requirements.
• Project Budget management – proven ability and experience in developing and managing budgets.
• Project risk mitigation and management – proven ability and experience in mitigating and managing project risks.
• Communication – strong communication, influence, persuasion, and negotiation skills.
• Relationship building – proven ability and experience in building and maintaining effective relationships.
• Client management – proven ability and experience in managing client relationships and expectations.
• Client service orientation – strong client service orientation.
• Project team leadership – proven ability and experience in project team leadership.
• Vendor management – proven ability and experience in managing vendor performance.
• Quality – possesses a continuous improvement and quality mindset along with a desire to continuously seek and incorporate best practices and technologies in order to optimize program delivery and deliver value to the client.
• Computer proficiency – proficient in and experience with MS Office suite of applications along with proven ability to quickly learn new applications.
