Purpose

The Senior Manager, Strategic Initiatives is a critical team member of the Practice Excellence (PE) group in Scotia Wealth Management. This role provides cross-functional leadership by leading strategic planning, reporting, and the execution of initiatives that support the CWM growth strategy.

Reporting to the Practice Excellence Vice President, the Senior Manager will work closely to lead and manage the strategy, foster team culture, and enable collective deliverables. The role will contribute to the collaborative build-out, implementation and measurement of successful initiatives across Training & Development, Practice Management, Total Wealth Programs, Change Management, and CWM Investment Advisory stakeholders. The role also ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures, while ensuring strong performance, operational excellence, and a high performing, inclusive culture.

Accountabilities 

• Lead, facilitate and measure Practice Excellence strategy and initiatives:

• • Work closely with the VP to prioritize, manage, implement and track strategic initiatives across the Practice Excellence team, ensuring strong collaboration, project governance, and business alignment on activities and initiatives that support CWM Investment Advisory growth
  • Lead the development and implementation of new strategic initiatives across the PE ecosystem to support advisor development & growth, and client experiences
  • Collaborate with PE leaders to ensure engagement and ownership across multiple teams, and manage multiple work streams to ensure project milestones are reached
  • Conduct analysis of competitors across wealth management industry, track shifts in wealth management landscape, and develop forward-looking insights on opportunities to support the evolution of the team deliverable

• Communications and Culture
  • Lead and own PE team communications and platforms – supporting the development/evolution and regular delivery of impactful and timely communications to support the PE team success
  • Champions and influences a collaborative, high performance and inclusive culture through employee focused and client focused initiatives, events and development programs
  • Proactively pursues, models and influences the adoption of new technology and best practices to support the high performance culture across PE teams and initiatives in support of advisor training, development and engagement

• Reporting, Risk, Controls & Operational Excellence

• • Accountable for developing, adopting, managing and improving dashboards for PE leadership team, CWM executive teams, enterprise executive updates, quarterly finance, and ad hoc reporting as required
  • Support the PE team risk processes, including Business Continuity Planning, Third Party Risk Management, Internal Controls, Coupa and contract management, etc.
  • Champions a client-focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
  • Understands how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.

Education / Experience

• Post-secondary degree, preferably in Business Administration
• Deep understanding of Wealth Management Business lines
• Five years of experience in corporate strategy or project management in the wealth management, banking or financial services industry, is an asset
• Experience developing and delivering business line and/or executive communications
• Self-motivated; ability to work both independently and collaboratively with multi-functional teams
• Strong relationship management skills to effectively manage relationships across the Bank, its partners and external vendors
• Strong quantitative, analytical, and conceptual problem-solving skills combined with outstanding business acumen and attention to detail
• Strong project management experience, PMP is an asset
• Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
• Bilingual in English and French is an asset
• Advanced knowledge of MS Office including Co-Pilot, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
