Salary range (but not limited to):

118,700 - 145,100

Annual bonus target, based on the base salary, with a potential payout of up to double the target (subject to personal and company performance):

15%

Salary for the candidate will be determined taking into consideration a number of factors including: experience, skills, qualifications, anticipated contribution to role, internal equity, etc. The salary range presented above is based on a 35-hour workweek and would represent a majority of different candidate profiles. However, we encourage candidates who may fall outside of this range to apply as well.


About the role

We are looking for a Java Software Developer – Technical Specialist / Technical Lead to join our group!

Join a dynamic team as we modernize our document composition and document management platforms. Take on significant technology challenges by leveraging your expertise and leadership as a Technical Lead—a role ideally suited to an experienced developer looking for stimulating new challenges, professional growth, greater responsibilities, and increased autonomy within a software development team.


Technology Context

  • Java REST microservices using Spring Boot, deployed on OpenShift.
  • Event-driven architecture using Kafka.
  • Angular single-page application frontend.
  • Automated testing using WireMock, Testcontainers, and Cucumber BDD.
  • Progressive migration to AWS cloud technologies and platforms, including ROSA.
  • Integrated DevOps environment:
    • CI using Jenkins Pipelines and GitHub Actions.
    • Observability through Dynatrace, Grafana, and the Elastic Stack.


What you'll do here: 

  • Develop Java applications and software systems within the Document Management group, actively contributing to the design, implementation, and delivery of these products.
  • Lead by example in the use of Generative Artificial Intelligence technologies throughout all phases of the product development lifecycle.
  • Act as the primary technical point of contact for leadership for a given initiative or product.
  • Contribute to a product’s technical roadmap by determining the priority and criticality of technical items.
  • Represent the team and the product at technical expert forums.
  • Ensure that the team has a clear understanding of the requirements and design before implementation.
  • Lead effort estimation for implementation teams.
  • Conduct regular code and implementation reviews with team members, using these opportunities to mentor developers, share knowledge, and safeguard the quality and consistency of our systems.
  • Proactively identify inefficiencies and opportunities to improve implementation practices, and recommend appropriate changes.
  • Actively participate in the implementation of the most complex and critical features of a given product.
  • Contribute to solution and application architecture designs.
  • Produce high-level effort estimates based on assumptions.
  • Participate in production support and improvement activities.
  • Act as a mentor to the technical team and support them in their technical and professional development.

 

What you bring to the table: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 8+ years of experience in software design and development, including 2+ years of experience in a similar role.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum software engineering environments.
  • Strong communication skills; organized, autonomous, committed, and focused on developing a deep understanding of technical requirements and delivering high-quality work.
  • Ability to leverage your leadership skills while effectively managing multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
  • Bilingualism in French and English—regular interaction with colleagues across the country is required
  • No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.
