How You’ll Make an Impact:


The Corporate Affairs Producer will be part of the Digital Media Team, reporting to the Manager, Digital Media, and will focus on the development and production of Fidelity Canada’s daily live webcasts, podcasts and videos. 


The Producer will play a leading role in Fidelity’s digital media production environment, working both independently and in visible team-leading roles with the overall goal to drive viewer engagement through our broadcast-quality content.


Ideal new hires will have a business television newsroom or related background, and have an understanding of financial markets.


The Producer will develop new content opportunities based on internal market research, cross-department collaboration and business, markets, and geopolitical news. They will see these ideas to fruition through scriptwriting, directing and overseeing post-production edits.  

 

In addition to producer responsibilities, the role will also require basic knowledge of studio equipment and operations, video editing, and current distribution and promotion methods. The role will also involve supporting the wider Digital Media Team on various aspects of video production and digital events as required. 


Key Accountabilities


1. Producing webcasts: Pre-production: As a segment/chase producer, this role will manage the idea development, guest booking, and show promotion (copy writing) of webcasts and videos. This includes a dedicated focus on pre-production planning and content development, leading prep call pre-interviews, and script-writing, all while adhering to developed Fidelity Canada Digital Media best practices.


2. Producing webcasts: Show day: Plan and execute broadcast-quality webcasts with the broader Digital Media Team, providing oversight to the crew’s responsibilities, while personally writing host scripts, directing remote guests, and talent management. 


3. Long-term content strategy and development: Develop and produce plans to expand the Fidelity Canada webcast lineup with a focus on emerging client segments, topics of interest, and languages. Expansion plans will align with organizational goals and audience demand.


4. Relationships: Develop and maintain strong relationships with Digital Media team, hosts and guests. Hosts and guests will be a mix of Fidelity Canada employees (portfolio managers, subject-matter experts and thought leaders), as well as external guests. Content ideas are often generated from cross-department discussions with sales, products, marketing, and investment management. 



The Expertise You Bring:


  • ​​Knowledge of global financial markets
  • ​Knowledge of video/webcast/podcast producing including content development, script writing, talent management, and directing 
  • ​Exceptional communication skills both written and oral, are required 
  • ​Exceptional writing skills
  • ​On-camera presentation skills are a value-add​
  • ​​Basic knowledge digital camera systems and studio equipment, camera capture, shot set-up, lighting, advanced audio capture and related trouble shooting. As well as webcast and video conference platforms such as Zoom, including video and audio signal flows between a studio environment, home computer environment and conference room
  • ​Understanding of digital technologies and emerging digital trends
  • ​Project management and strong organizational abilities are essential
  • ​Ability to help foster a collaborative and engaging work environment
  • ​The role is not required to be bilingual, but basic understanding of French is recommended​



What We Are Looking For:

Experience

  • Must have: At least 3 years of experience with ​​producing experience with business/financial news, preferably in a live TV environment, understanding of financial markets and strong script-writing and interview content outline experience​


  • Nice to have: Experience in a financial services company
  • Communications related experience in public affairs, journalism, marketing or others
  • Experience in the technical aspects of video production (camera operation, sound, etc)


Education

  • University degree or equivalent work experience
  • ​​Prior freelance or full-time work experience in a business news environment​

For this role, your total rewards include:

  • Base Salary and discretionary Performance Bonus: Total annual cash compensation (base salary plus target bonus) ranges from $99,000 to $135,000 based on experience and qualifications
  • RRSP Contribution: After 6 months of employment, we invest in your future with an RRSP contribution—no employee matching required.
