About the role:

The Team Lead, Mortgage Renewals, assists the Manager, Mortgage Retention to provide daily leadership to a group of mortgage renewal specialists. This includes researching and analyzing renewal processes to solve business problems and improve mortgage retention results. Providing leadership, support and guidance to the team and establishing performance objectives.  Makes decisions as efficiently and quickly as possible while exercising sound judgement. The position will strive for quality and profitability, while complying with legal requirements, Company policies and guidelines. 

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Workflow Management (45%)

·         Lead by example and provide daily feedback and coaching to team members

·         Foster a team environment focused on achieving all departmental objectives and goals in support of the business

·         Plan, schedule and establish team member workload, identify individual and group training needs

·         Monitor productivity and workflow to ensure efficiency and turnaround time for all renewals

·         Identify and provide specific additional coaching and performance management to individuals as necessary

·         Negotiate rates and fees without compromising service and profitability

·         Review processes and implement changes to resolve business problems and improve mortgage retention results

·         Ensure all pertinent information is gathered, processed accurately and on time following legal and company guidelines and regulations

·         Work effectively with all internal and external business partners to achieve required organization & departmental goals and achieve excellence

Portfolio Retention (35%)

·         Actively support team members in contacting all Mortgage Renewal clients in an effort to secure business

·         Negotiate renewal mortgage rates in keeping with Company objectives

Risk and Compliance (20%)

·         Meet all audit requirements

·         Evaluate and analyse documentation supplied by client and broker to ensure compliance with all aspects of Home Trust Company’s underwriting policies and guidelines per delegated authority matrices and applicable compliance obligations including Privacy, Anti-Money Laundering/ Anti-Terrorist Financing and internal Anti-Fraud Policy requirements

·         File Unusual Transaction Reports as applicable to fulfil individual employee obligations to detect and deter financial crimes activity

What we’re looking for:

Education:
• University degree in business, economics or related discipline
• Additional relevant accreditation(s), certification(s) are assets

Related Experience:
• Min 2 years in sales
• Mortgage Services industry experience an asset

• Strong organizational, time-management and analytical skills
• Strong interpersonal relationship building and listening skills
• Motivates and engages others through fostering a collaborative team environment
• Excellent written / verbal communication and professional maturity

What you can expect - pay & process:

• Expected base salary range is $60,000 - $70,000, plus the opportunity to earn an annual incentive bonus tied to performance.
