Are you up for the challenge of leading at every level, developing a global network of colleagues, and embracing endless opportunity? Join the Tax & Legal (T&L) Practice at Deloitte.
What will your typical day look like?
As a practitioner in Tax & Legal, you will collaborate with teammates to help clients meet compliance deadlines, understand tax implications, and improve working practices. You’ll take ownership of defined workstream, ranging from preparing workpapers and drafting returns, to researching technical issues and improving processes. With this said, no two days are the same; our clients evolve and so do we.
Join our tax team to apply foundational knowledge in tax compliance, research, and data analysis. Ideal for new graduates pursuing the CPA pathway who are ready to contribute to client deliverables in a professional services environment.
What you’ll do:
Prepare and document core workpapers that support tax compliance filings
Draft substantive portions of tax returns and related forms, respond to reviewer comments, and iterate to client-ready quality.
Conduct targeted technical research using approved sources; synthesize findings into concise, well-cited memos with practical recommendations.
Develop an understanding of the internal accounting system and billing cycle, while constantly striving to identify and implement ways to improve efficiencies.
Adhere to quality and confidentiality protocols; complete checklists, manage versions, and proactively flag risks or issues.
Monitor legislative and regulatory changes and assess impacts.
Establish relationships with clients and build a network of contacts within the firm.
What you’ll gain:
Hands-on experience with Canadian tax workflows, documentation standards, and research methods.
Exposure to cross-functional tax teams and client-facing deliverables; opportunities to build judgment, efficiency, and technical depth.
About the team
Join a global, market-leading Tax & Legal practice and work alongside experienced professionals in a fast-changing environment. Your path is flexible, with opportunities to build technical skills, contribute to high-quality work, and grow through on-the-job learning, mentorship, and formal training.
The Canadian practice includes the following service lines: Business Tax, International Tax, US Corporate Tax, Indirect Tax, Global Employer Services, Mergers & Acquisitions, R&D and Government Incentives (Gi3), Transfer Pricing, Immigration Assignment Services and Deloitte Tax Law.
