Job Summary
Reporting to the Compensation Director, you will serve as an expert advisor to HR Business Partners and the Talent Acquisition team. You will provide leadership, governance, and oversight for the evolution of compensation programs and structures across a dynamic environment covering Canada and the United States, offering engaging exposure to North American market complexities. Recognized for your autonomy, proactivity, and initiative, you will lead major end-to-end projects with rigor and efficiency, turning business needs into concrete, high-performing solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Act as the primary contact for total rewards, advising HR Business Partners and the Talent Acquisition team on salary positioning and retention cases.
Influence and guide internal stakeholders at all levels to ensure a rigorous and harmonized application of compensation policies and practices across Canada and the US.
Coordinate and lead the annual compensation cycles (salary reviews, bonuses, merit increases) by managing planning, legal compliance, and deadline adherence.
Support executive compensation activities, including modeling and calculating data required for the proxy circular, as well as tracking and managing the administration of long-term incentive plan (LTIP) grants and vesting.
Lead end-to-end projects (needs analysis, design, deployment, and evaluation), acting as the primary driver for meeting deadlines and deliverables.
Design, update, and optimize salary structures, incentive programs, and total rewards tools to ensure internal equity and market competitiveness across North America.
Conduct job evaluations and maintain the consistency of the job classification structure across various business units.
Lead benchmarking exercises, participate in North American salary surveys, and analyze market trends to propose strategic adjustments.
Manage pay equity compliance in accordance with applicable provincial and federal legislative requirements, including facilitating joint committees and posting results.
Develop communication tools, explanatory guides, and training sessions for HR teams and managers to enhance understanding and adoption of compensation programs.
Required Qualifications
Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree / Undergraduate university degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Business Administration, Actuarial Science, or a related field.
Minimum of 7 years of progressive and relevant experience, specifically in compensation program administration, market analysis, and project management.
Skills & Competencies
Fluent bilingualism (French and English), both spoken and written, required to interact daily with teams and stakeholders based in the US and English Canada.
Advanced proficiency in spreadsheets (Excel) and experience with HRIS platforms.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, teamwork, and multi-tasking skills, with the ability to work independently under tight deadlines.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of translating complex analyses into clear recommendations.
Demonstrated interpersonal and internal customer-service skills.
Proven ability to influence and collaborate tactfully, with good judgment and discretion, across all organizational levels.
High level of integrity, rigor, and discretion in handling confidential information.
