The Regional Vice-President (VP), Imperial Service, Western Canada Region is accountable for leading implementation of initiatives for CIBC’s Imperial Service business, which focuses on our mass affluent clients to drive outstanding results in the areas of net sales growth, revenue and client satisfaction. As a member of Personal and Business Banking, Canada is accountable for determining the strategic direction, providing leadership and business management of the Imperial Service markets within their span of control and within the overall Region.  The role is focused on all aspects of Imperial Service including the implementation of forward thinking business and sales strategies, productivity, profitability initiatives and enhancement of the client experience.  The Regional VP is jointly responsible with the Regional President for regional business, risk management, profitability, cost and expense management.

What You’ll be Doing

 

  • Shape the Imperial Service Strategy. Partner with the Regional President, Imperial Service and senior Imperial Service leaders to define, evolve, and execute the long-term Imperial Service vision, operating model, and differentiated client value proposition.
  • Drive Business Performance. Provide strategic oversight of a complex, high-profile markets — delivering sustainable business results, exceptional client experiences, and a strong risk and compliance culture.
  • Inspire High-Performance Leadership. Cultivate a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and inclusive leadership — investing in coaching, candid feedback, and leadership development to build the next generation of talent and connect individual roles to CIBC's enterprise ambitions.
  • Lead National Strategic Initiatives. Architect and advance enterprise-wide priorities that evolve frontline roles, leadership capability, and coaching practices, while ensuring disciplined stakeholder engagement and measurable outcomes.
  • Elevate the Client Journey. Champion a seamless client experience framework that enables well-executed transitions across the Core, Imperial, and Private Wealth continuum — supported by targeted marketing strategies that deepen engagement and accelerate growth.
  • Advance frontline productivity and transformation by strengthening advice-based sales leadership and accelerating the adoption of omni-channel, virtual, and AI-enabled capabilities.
  • Champion exceptional client and team member experiences by fostering a culture of continuous improvement, inclusion, accountability, and leadership excellence.
  • Maximize Competitive Positioning. Leverage the full breadth of CIBC's products, channels, specialists, and brand to deliver a differentiated client offer, while translating market intelligence and emerging industry trends into strategies that keep Imperial Service at the forefront of the financial advice landscape.
  • Align Partners and Infrastructure. Collaborate with product, infrastructure, and cross-functional business partners to ensure strategies, initiatives, and compensation frameworks reflect the needs of Imperial Service clients, frontline teams, and CIBC's broader strategic goals.
  • Uphold Regulatory Standards. Maintain the highest standards of licensing, accreditation, and operational compliance — including CIRO-MFD and CIRO-ID requirements — while embedding a proactive risk mindset across all levels of the team.

 

What We’re Looking For

 

  • Extensive leadership experience in Personal and Business Banking, with a strong track record in advice-based sales, client relationship management, and delivering strong business results.
  • Exceptional people leadership and coaching capability, with experience leading large, geographically dispersed sales teams and developing high-performing leaders for current and future business needs.
  • Deep knowledge of financial services practices, principles, and sales management, with the ability to translate strategy into execution and achieve financial, client, and operational objectives.
  • Proven ability to lead through change, maintaining employee engagement, clear communication, and alignment to strategic priorities during periods of transformation.
  • Strong business and financial acumen, including experience with strategic planning, business planning, and cost management to support sustainable growth and performance.
  • Highly effective relationship builder and influencer, able to work across a complex matrix organization to drive collaboration, alignment, and results without direct authority.
  • Outstanding communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively up, down, and across the organization and turn strategic intent into clear, actionable priorities.
  • Strong client and market orientation, with the ability to leverage market insights, evolving client needs, and competitive dynamics to strengthen the client value proposition and business strategy.
  • Experience leading strategic initiatives with accountability for execution, stakeholder management, risk management, and delivery of measurable business outcomes.
  • Strong understanding of technology platforms, operational processes, data, and AI, with the ability to influence improvements that enhance frontline effectiveness and the client experience.
  • Community-minded and externally credible, with the presence and judgment to represent CIBC with clients, partners, regulators, government, and community stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated commitment to risk management, regulatory compliance, and stewardship, with the ability to embed strong controls, governance, and disciplined business practices across a large team.
