Summary

Bell MediaTV is committed to adding talented professionals to our team and we are looking to add a Senior Technical Architect to our Strategy and Architecture team.  This team is responsible for technology strategy supporting Bell TV and Media platforms and services. The media industry is undergoing significant transformation as traditional broadcast and production environments converge with cloud-based platforms, streaming services, data-driven operations and artificial intelligence. This role will help define how emerging technologies can be applied across the media value chain—from the creation and management of content through its distribution and delivery to audiences.

Working at the intersection of strategy, technology innovation and enterprise architecture, the successful candidate will partner with senior business and technology leaders to identify opportunities for modernization, develop strategic technology roadmaps and guide transformational initiatives across the organization. Emphasis will be placed on AI/ML, generative AI, cloud technologies, data and analytics, automation, and emerging media technologies that can improve content operations, audience experiences, operational efficiency and the organization's ability to develop new digital products and revenue opportunities.

As a Senior Architect, you will play a key role in the evolution of the Enterprise Architecture role by helping to define and set standards/best practices for the team, while leveraging AI where possible. You will also be responsible to produce technical feasibility assessments, plan the delivery of new technical capabilities, align and support delivery across multiple internal and external streams, and communicate plans, progress and risks to Senior level management. 

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute technology strategies supporting the organization’s direction as a modern digital media company.
• Define technology roadmaps across media production, content management, broadcast, streaming and digital distribution.
• Evaluate how emerging technologies and changing industry practices affect the organization's media technology landscape
• Identify opportunities to modernize traditional media workflows through cloud, software-defined infrastructure, automation, data and artificial intelligence.
• Align technology investments with the organization's content, audience, operational and commercial strategies.
• Present technical feasibility assessments, architectural recommendations and transformation roadmaps to senior leadership.
• Help establish long-term technology direction as traditional broadcast environments converge with digital and streaming platforms.
• Assess opportunities and impacts to Bell MediaTV systems including conceptual architecture, costing, teams impacted, effort, dependencies, and benefits. 
• Assess opportunities to consolidate and simplify the end-to-end technology stack across Bell Media and TV.
• Engage with external partners and other Bell teams on solution options and related recommendations
• Engage technology vendors and industry partners to evaluate emerging platforms and capabilities, including leading trials
• Prepare financial analysis on technology opportunities, including multi-year costing and benefits
• Stay current on major disruptive technology and non-technology trends that affect the Business
• Balance innovation with scalability, reliability, interoperability, security and long-term maintainability
• Build consensus across organizations with different operational requirements and technology environments

Critical Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering (or equivalent degree or experience)
• Preferred: Expertise in video technology, obtained through advanced education and/or work experience
• Preferred: Experience in leveraging AI for day to day operations as well as for developing AI/ML or generative AI strategies within a media environment, obtained through advanced education and/or work experience
• 8+ years experience in solution architecture
• Professional experience in technology strategy, enterprise architecture, solution architecture, software engineering or digital transformation.
• Ability to connect changes in technology and the media industry with long-term business strategy.
• Deep understanding of the broader OTT video ecosystem and video services industry with preference to have a solid end to end understanding of video technology platforms and services within Bell Media and TV
• Preferred: Familiarity and or working experience with Bell Media Digital Products and Brands, especially with front end and back end technical systems
• Preferred: Experience architecting and implementing video and streaming technology solutions, Adtech technologies, AI/ML, generative AI, Big Data and analytics technologies
• Preferred: Experience with cloud-based media processing and distribution architectures, including cloud-native architectures, microservices, containers and distributed systems.

Preferred Qualifications

• Superior communication and presentation skills; including the ability to:
  •  Speak in business terms and effectively translate technical terms using plain language
  • Communicate effectively with people at different organizational levels (written and oral) with ability to influence and give strategic guidance to the business.
  • Produce and communicate technical roadmaps that are clear on deliverable expectations, key contributors, timing etc
• Ability to influence in a complex and evolving environment to meet challenging time lines and organizational goals.
• Demonstrated problem solving,  a positive attitude, and the proven ability to negotiate and influence others to obtain desired results.
• Mature, confident, and performance oriented.
• Decision making under time pressure with limited information
• Strong interpersonal skills and focus on building relationships and establishing trust with stakeholders
• Excellent analytical, problem solving and decision making skills

Adequate knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec.
