Partner, Community Relations Communications - Temporary

The Partner, Community Relations Communications is accountable for defining and executing the communications strategy for all Air Canada initiatives with a social good component. Leads the integration of social impact communications across the organization, ensuring consistency of messaging, alignment with corporate objectives, and effective engagement with internal and external stakeholders.  

Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for the communications strategy and storytelling framework for Air Canada’s social impact portfolio, including the Air Canada Foundation, Community Relations, Partnerships, and Employee Engagement initiatives
  • Lead the development and execution of integrated communications plans that support Air Canada’s corporate objectives, brand priorities, and social good commitments
  • Provide strategic communications counsel and messaging support for social impact initiatives, partnerships, campaigns, and executive communications
  • Serve as the communications subject matter expert for Community Relations and the Air Canada Foundation initiatives 
  • Represent Communications at key cross-functional meetings involving Corporate Sustainability, Community Relations, the Air Canada Foundation, Corporate Communications, Internal Communications, Brand, and other business units
  • Consult on media relations strategies related to social impact initiatives and provide communications support on issues management as required.  
  • Develop and execute communications strategies for marquee programs and events, including the Air Canada Foundation Golf Tournament, Aeroplan Points Matching Week, Autism Aviation Days, and employee engagement initiatives
  • Drive employee engagement and awareness of Air Canada’s social impact programs through strategic internal communications and storytelling
  • Lead the integration of social impact communications across business units, including Air Canada Vacations, Air Canada Rouge, Aeroplan, Brand, and Internal Communications Teams
  • Provide communications guidance and strategic support for external charitable and community partnerships
  • Develop content and key messaging for executive communications, including newsletters, speeches, presentations, and stakeholder updates  
  • Accountable for the planning, development, and publication of the annual Air Canada Foundation Impact Report
  • Contribute social impact stories, results, and content to Air Canada’s annual Corporate Sustainability Report and other corporate disclosure materials
  • Prepare and deliver quarterly communications updates for Air Canada Foundation Board members, including performance reporting, storytelling outcomes, and year-over-year communications insights
  • Oversee content planning, governance, and updates for the Air Canada Foundation website and other owned communication channels
  • Attend events and community activations to identify storytelling opportunities and lead the creation of content across digital, social, internal, and external channels
  • Direct the development of multimedia storytelling assets, including social media content, videos, employee communications, photography, and event recaps
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects, communications calendars, agency and vendor relationships, and stakeholder approvals to ensure timely and effective execution

Qualifications

  • University degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, Corporate Communications, or a related field; graduate degree considered an asset
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in communications, including experience supporting corporate social responsibility, community investment, foundation, or purpose-driven initiatives
  • Demonstrated experience developing and executing integrated communications strategies, campaigns, and stakeholder engagement plans  
  • Strong understanding of corporate reputation management, brand storytelling, media relations, internal communications, and social media strategy  
  • Proven experience working within complex, highly matrixed organizations and collaborating with cross-functional teams and senior leaders  
  • Exceptional written, verbal, presentation, and storytelling skills, with the ability to tailor messaging for diverse audiences and stakeholders
  • Experience managing social media and digital communications channels, including content planning, analytics, and performance reporting  
  • Strong judgement, project management, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to balance multiple priorities and provide strategic communications counsel
