What you'll be doing
As a Director, Corporate Function Compliance, you’ll be joining CIBC’s Compliance and Global Regulatory Affairs team within Risk Management, and reporting to the Senior Director, Corporate Function Compliance. You’ll provide strategic leadership and direction to a team of Compliance professionals, ensuring that CIBC’s 1st and 2nd Line groups under your purview are effectively managing regulatory compliance risk in alignment with the Bank’s risk appetite and regulator expectations. You’ll oversee the execution of Regulatory Compliance Management (RCM) activities, coordinate regulatory landscape analysis, and ensure alignment with industry standards and the Bank’s Regulatory Compliance Management Policy. You will be responsible for leading the oversight activities of a group of CFC officers specializing in either quantitative/financial regulatory areas (such as Enterprise Risk, Credit Risk, Model Quantification) or non-quantitative/functional areas (such as Legal, Marketing, Data Governance, Whistleblower, ESG). Your role will involve developing relationships across business units, providing compliance advisory services, and optimizing processes to drive operational excellence. You’ll also be responsible for coaching, mentoring, and managing a team of Compliance Officers, fostering a positive work environment, and championing CIBC’s mission, vision, and values.

How you'll succeed
Strategic Leadership and Oversight - Lead and manage a team of Compliance Officers, providing direction, coaching, and monitoring of activities to ensure alignment with CIBC’s Regulatory Compliance Management framework.
Regulatory Landscape Analysis - Stay current on changes in relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards. Analyze the impact of regulatory changes and adjust compliance strategies accordingly.
Risk Assessment and Management - Review complex legal and regulatory documentation, translate requirements into plain language, and perform risk assessments in accordance with established methodologies.
Process Optimization - Provide insights and best practices for optimizing regulatory compliance processes, focusing on operational excellence and mitigation strategies.
Relationship Building - Develop and maintain strong relationships with Oversight Functions, Line of Business leaders, and other teams within Compliance and Global Regulatory Affairs to ensure effective oversight and mitigation of regulatory compliance risk.
Team Development - Foster a positive work environment, provide development opportunities, manage performance, and ensure compliance with policies and controls.
Who you are
You’re an experienced compliance leader. You bring 10-15 years of progressive business experience in compliance, risk management, legal, audit, or governance within the financial services industry, mainly in either quantitative/financial (such as Enterprise Risk, Credit Risk, Model Quantification) or qualitative/functional areas (such as Legal, Marketing, Data Governance, Whistleblower, ESG).
You have deep regulatory expertise. You possess extensive knowledge of regulatory compliance management, risk assessment, and control frameworks relevant to financial institutions.
You’re a strategic thinker. Your strong analytical, critical thinking, and business acumen enable you to develop creative solutions for complex problems.
You’re a relationship builder. You excel at establishing and maintaining healthy internal and external partnerships, and you communicate effectively to develop trust and influence outcomes.
You lead and inspire teams. You have proven leadership and influencing skills, with experience coaching, mentoring, and managing professional teams.
