This role requires full-time on-site presence.

Your Role

Coordinate and execute various tasks for On- Air programs, as well as ensure the continuity of acquisition, feed and communication resources for CBC/Radio-Canada networks and external clients, including various regions. Distribute the signals of programs and program segments, ensuring quality control.

Key Tasks

• Insert station IDs, spots, promos and sponsored graphics into programs and breaks, ensuring seamless co-ordination with all other scheduled continuity elements.
• Verify the availability of all broadcast assets; proactively manage workflows to ensure that all elements (including schedules, programs, spots, promos, keys, voice-overs and closed-captioning files) are present and compliant prior to air.
• Screen and approve spots and promos prior to ingesting them into the server; reject non-compliant assets and initiate corrective action.
• During live broadcasts, verify all commercial content (such as names, billboards and foreground voices) and co-ordinate the integration of commercial pods and other elements jointly with the program production team.
• Check and ensure the accuracy of program elements slated for broadcast against cue sheets and the schedule; view the program and make necessary corrections.
• Check audio/video, captioning and communications signals for programs or program elements across the entire Radio-Canada distribution system, including those from outside distribution companies (e.g., cable operators, satellite signal providers), along with all technical elements (e.g., VTRs, servers, external links); make corrections if they are not compliant with standards.
• Integrate cue sheets and schedule, resolve and correct rejected elements, then complete and finalize the schedule, coding the program elements using management software. Organize the sequencing and allocation of equipment according to the constraints specific to each element making up the program.
• Set up, load, test, position, install and operate the VTRs, servers (e.g., audio-video, captioning) and other technical equipment (e.g., broadcast graphics, digital delay), ensuring everything is clean, secure and in good working order.
• Ensure the accuracy of the broadcast schedule and, if necessary, correct it by shortening or lengthening programs; depending on the circumstances or in the event of a fault, rework it, replacing certain items or programs.
• In emergency situations, evaluate and manage the broadcast of news flashes, short-form special programing, PSAs and news crawls in accordance with established protocols and programming tone, and be responsible for rescheduling or pre-empting commercials and promos and notifying all affected network affiliates.
• Notify management, French network regional and affiliate stations, as well as Production, Sales and Communications, of any changes or relevant information regarding broadcasts.
• In emergencies, manually control the presentation system and correct information entered in the automation system to meet programming requirements.
• Draft reports on any type of irregularity and inform the relevant people.
• Complete daily trouble reports and enter, on the broadcast schedule, the timings, anomalies and other information relevant to the as-run log for the Corporation and the CRTC.
• In case of technical failure, find and apply solutions and perform the connections, operations or workarounds necessary to maintain service quality and continuity, and prepare reports for the people concerned.
• Advise technical and production staff to resolve problems and/or achieve desired results.
• Assist, as needed, in reviewing and/or developing operating methods and technical standards.
• Note all relevant information in a log to ensure the required follow-up actions and continuity; consult the log daily.
• Complete the appropriate forms and documents; share information verbally or in writing to ensure proper follow-up and to keep others informed.
• Familiarize other employees with their duties and the work environment.
• Carry out, as needed, all or part of the duties of another job classification within an equivalent or lower salary group, as well as other related duties.

Job Requirements:

Qualifications:

• College diploma (DEC) in Television production and post-production or a related DEC
• Three (3) or more years’ experience performing related duties

Selection Process:

• Theory exam: Passing grade: 70% / Weighting: 30%
• Practical exam: Passing grade: 70% / Weighting: 30%
• Interview: Passing grade: 70% / Weighting: 40%
• Cumulative average: 70%

Interview Evaluation Criteria:

Education, experience, leadership, teamwork skills, independence and initiative, problem-solving skills, great coordinating skills, bilingualism, ability to work under pressure, willingness and interest to work on a rotating schedule (days, evenings, nights).
