Your Opportunity

Our Montreal office is looking for a bilingual Senior Law Clerk to join the BDO Law practice and own the following responsibilities:

  • Draft, review, and prepare legal documents and correspondence in both English and French related to tax disputes

  • Coordinate all stages of the tax controversy process, including support for court filings and hearings before the Tax Court of Canada and Quebec courts where applicable.

  •  Conduct legal research on tax legislation, regulations, court decisions, and administrative policies from CRA and Revenu Québec.

  •  Organize and maintain legal files, document books, and case materials, ensuring accuracy and compliance with deadlines and court procedures.

  • Work collaboratively with internal teams, including accountants and consultants, to support cross-functional legal services.

  • Assist in the preparation of litigation materials such as affidavits, exhibits, and court submissions.

  • Work closely with tax lawyers, accountants, and advisors to support comprehensive client strategies.

  • Act as a liaison between clients, government authorities, and internal legal and tax teams.


Your Experience and Education:

  • Minimum 5–7 years of experience as a Law Clerk or Paralegal, with direct experience in tax litigation, administrative law, or regulatory compliance.

  • Diploma or certificate from a recognized Law Clerk or Paralegal program.

  • Bilingualism (French and English) Required

  • Due to the frequent and complex contact with our English-speaking partners and clients in Quebec and outside of Quebec, and the need to draft documents in English, knowledge of English is essential for this position.

  • Solid understanding of Canadian tax law, CRA and Revenu Québec procedures, and Tax Court of Canada rules.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple files and deadlines.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with clients, government agencies, and legal professionals.

  • Excellent proficiency skills in Microsoft Office Suite, in particular Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and legal document preparation tools.

  • Eager to learn and/or comfortable using AI-powered tools
