This Position reports to:Production Engineering Supervisor
 

The Smart Buildings (ELSB) business segment is digitally transforming commercial, industrial, and residential buildings to optimize comfort, efficiency, safety, and security. Our goal is to enhance the quality of life in future buildings through sustainable electrification solutions, services, and products.


We are seeking a Production Engineering Specialist to join our team at our manufacturing facility for emergency lighting products and printed circuit boards. Reporting to the Manufacturing Engineering Supervisor, the primary responsibility of this role is to develop, modify, and improve the industrial processes for our active emergency lighting products. Collaborating with operational teams, the Production Engineering Specialist will oversee the validation of manufacturing processes and ensure continuous improvement in production while providing technical support for manufacturing and innovation initiatives. This role requires prompt intervention and the implementation of sustainable solutions to address encountered challenges.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Define the sequence of working phases for new production processes to achieve targeted product costs and equipment investment budgets.

  • Ensure appropriate production methods, cycle times, equipment performance, and materials/components to meet production targets.

  • Identify and recommend improvement opportunities, implementing projects while ensuring adherence to timelines, quality, and cost requirements.

  • Ensure compliance of the production process with project targets.

  • Approve designs for processes developed internally or externally and conduct final tests related to the project.

  • Provide support during the internal/external process/equipment start-up, defining action plans and training relevant maintenance and production resources.

  • Evaluate new process technologies to enhance productivity, quality, and cost reduction, leading testing activities, establishing approval criteria, and selecting external providers.

  • Engage in project management and portfolio management activities, including priority brainstorming for projects to align with strategic goals and optimize resource allocation.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess project feasibility, risks, and benefits, ensuring that project milestones are met and aligned with overall business objectives.

  • Manage project core teams effectively by fostering collaboration, setting clear objectives, and ensuring accountability among team members to drive project success.

Your Background:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering.

  • A minimum of 4 years of experience as an industrial engineer is preferred.

  • Strong writing, presentation, and communication skills in both French and English.

  • Knowledge of Lean principles.

  • Experience in the lighting industry is an asset.

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and other industrial drawing software.

  • Collaborative approach with a proactive mindset, focused on solution-seeking, along with strong written and oral communication skills.

  • Knowledge of project management.

  • Bilingualism in French and English, both spoken and written, is essential. French is required. English is also required to communicate with customers outside Quebec on a regular basis.
