The Manager, Brand Awareness & Sales Marketing – Cargo is responsible for planning and creating action plans to increase the visibility and market presence of our Air Canada Cargo brand and products, while being accountable for providing essential marketing support to the Air Canada Cargo sales team. This role will deliver and implement strategies that elevate Air Canada Cargo’s brand reputation and growth in the global market to position Air Canada Cargo as an industry leader. They will rollout initiatives, systems and protocols that empower the global sales teams and GSAs with marketing resources they need to convert prospects into customers and meet revenue targets. They will be accountable for the successful delivery of these plans and processes, and optimizing and scaling them for maximum impact.  

This role will work cross-functionally across Air Canada Cargo to develop and implement marketing initiatives that build brand recognition, increase engagement with target audiences, support sales development, and align with sales, marketing and the branch’s business objectives. 

This role is designed for an experienced marketing professional who has a strong understanding of the cargo industry, exceptional communication skills, and a proven track record in brand management, sales marketing and B2B trade shows/events/sponsorships. The ideal candidate excels in a collaborative environment, is comfortable with technical, operational, and creative subject matter and communication, and is a self-starter. 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and lead the Air Canada Cargo annual brand awareness and sales marketing efforts to achieve Air Canada Cargo business objectives, and manage the successful execution, reporting and optimization of these initiatives

  • Develop and lead the Air Canada Cargo efforts to increase brand awareness and reach globally through paid media, social (paid and organic), editorials, trade shows, sponsorships/memberships, customer events, etc., 

  • Work closely with the Air Canada Cargo sales team to understand their needs and provide solutions, tools, materials, and resources to support their efforts

  • Accountable for the creation of Air Canada Cargo sales collateral, presentations, and other materials to support the sales team’s efforts in targeting new clients and retaining existing ones, ensuring all assets align with brand standards

  • Provide training and guidance to Air Canada Cargo sales teams (and other branch teams, as needed), on brand compliance, ensuring they have the necessary knowledge and resources to represent the brand consistently

  • Ensure consistent Air Canada Cargo branding sales and marketing channels, including developing processes for third-party brand usage

  • Provide solutions for Air Canada Cargo’s thought leadership goals, including trade shows and sponsorships, leveraging industry memberships and creating engaging customer appreciation events

  • Responsible for Air Canada Cargo’s awards and merchandise efforts

  • Provide recommendations to drive usage of the Cargo Marketing Hub to support sales marketing efforts 

  • Collaborate with internal Air Canada Cargo stakeholders, including product development and operations, to ensure alignment of marketing collateral with overall company goals

  • Support Air Canada Cargo business objectives by intaking business needs and translating them into clear marketing briefs

  • Contribute to longer range and broader strategic planning efforts

  • Responsible for on-time and on-budget delivery of marketing projects, delivering plans for optimizations and identifying growth opportunities for brand awareness and sales marketing

  • Management of Air Canada Cargo marketing campaigns and project budgets, maximizing effectiveness against objectives

  • Monitor Air Canada Cargo performance metrics and adjust plans as needed to ensure goals are met

  • Conduct competitor analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for brand growth and continuously fill the funnel of new ideas to support brand growth and sales support goals 

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team by fostering a collaborative environment 

Qualifications

  • University degree in Marketing, Communications, or an equivalent field

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in marketing, preferably B2B in the cargo or logistics industry 

  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

  • Proven experience developing B2B collateral across various mediums and for different channels,

  • Proven experience in planning and delivering impactful B2B industry and customer touchpoints through trade shows, sponsorships and customer appreciation events

  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate with impact and effectiveness across all levels of an organization and with external audiences

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail

  • Successful management of budget and strong financial accountability

  • Takes initiative, values teamwork and cooperation, and excels in building positive relationships 

  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment under pressure and deliver on tight deadlines, results oriented 

  • Proficiency in managing complex projects involving multiple stakeholders and cross-functional teams

  • Highly organized with meticulous attention to detail and a forward-thinking mindset 

  • Building partnerships & managing complex relationships with internal/external partners. Ability to act in a highly professional manner as a brand ambassador 

  • Passion for ingenuity, creativity, and initiative 

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs Word, PowerPoint and Excel

  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud products (InDesign, Photoshop, Dreamweaver, etc.) is an asset

  • Previous experience managing direct reports is a plus

  • Experience in marketing internationally (outside of Canada) is a plus

  • Knowledge of the cargo or logistics industry is a plus

  • Demonstrate punctuality and dependability to support overall team success in a fast-paced environment
